Comic Fodder

Comic Fodder: Fun Format Friday!

Welcome to the first Friday in the history of Comic Fodder. I'm going to keep Friday's light and easy, like an albino hooker. This will work out fine because Friday is usually a slow news day anyway. So...without further ado a quick look at what's going on in the world of comics right now:

Marvel Summit in NYC- As we speak Marvel Comics is holding its annual creative summit in the Big Apple. In attendance are Brian M. Bendis (New Avengers-writer), Dan Slott (She-Hulk-writer), Joe Quesada (Editor in Chief of Marvel), Ed Brubaker (Daredevil - writer) and Robert Kirkman (Marvel Team-Up - writer). There isn't much news about this but if you're really interested in learning as much as possible about this summit and others I'd hang out on the Bendis Message Board. You can be sure that the next year or so worth of Marvel storylines will come out of this creative meeting of the minds.

HeroesCon 2006 - Starting today and continuing until Sunday night you can go to HeroesCon 2006 in Charlotte, NC. In attendance this year, making a RARE convention appearance, writer and internet Love Swarmi,,,,WARREN ELLIS. Aside from Ellis the con will be bustling this year with a whole list of other professional guest, which can be seen on the HeroesCon website:
Incidentally, if anyone IS at the con and would like to check out MY indie company, please look for the Vicious Circle Project booth in the small press section. I won't be there personally but you can sure tell Bukshot, Holland or anyone else at that booth that Shawn says, "Hi."

Superman Returns - Even though this has been out fr a few days (and has already made $23 million) there are still a LOT of people who haven't seen it (such as myself). I expect this movie to make another couple hundred million this weekend. I'll be seeing it at the IMAX 3D theater in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Saturday night if anyone is interested.

Let's get to some site news before I wrap things up. I'll try to come back later today and make another couple posts but I've just gotten approved on a new apartment and I might be signing papers and getting my keys and all of that today. Sorry. Next week will be stronger. In fact, starting next week we'll have a new regular feature here:

-On every Thursday my writing partner and best buddy, Dave, will be stopping by to give us his review or that weeks new comics.

-Coming soon to this space more of the following: Exclusive creator interviews, up-to-the-minute news, weekly reviews, exciting commentary of various aspects of the industry, an extended look at comic creation and much more.

This is only the beginning only gets better from here. Thanks for reading and have a great weekend.
