Comic-Con 2006....Are You Prepared?

Everybody in blog-land is doing a Comic-Con related piece this week, mostly because there is NOTHING ELSE happening in the comic book world this week except preparations for the Con (or the Nerd Prom as writer Warren Ellis refers to it).

In keeping with that trend I've decided to collect the best of the best Comic-Con related links I could find. If you are completely in the dark about the upcoming con allow me to shed some light on this geeky mystery.

Comic-Con International 2006 is held, like all that have come before, in the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, California. Over the past few years this con has grown to become, possibly, the biggest convention to happen in the comics world. Due to its local this convention draws, not only, comic book creators but also Hollywood celebrities. The convention runs July 20th to July 23rd (and there is a special Preview Night for press on the 19th).

The official Comic-Con website is a virtual cornucopia of information in regards to the convention programming. If you want to see a MASTER LIST of ALL the events happening at the convention I direct you HERE.

The Comics Reporter is an indie-friendly site that has taken that massive program guide and pulled out everything involving independent comic creators. You can find this list HERE.

Struggling artists will be very curious to know when the portfolio reviews are (and there are many) so they can click HERE.

And finally, if you are curious about what you can be doing in and around the beautiful town of San Diego when you're not trapped at the Nerd Prom (ha! I love calling it that! Thank you Warren) then you would be wise to click HERE.

If you have never been to a comic book convention this is the one to attend. If you have any questions about the con and I can answer them I will be glad to do so. Please post in the COMMENTS section below and I'll reply ASAP.

Have fun!

Hi, Shawn. Nice set of links. I just wanted to direct you to the Comic-Con International News page I have going at Comic Book Conventions.com: http://www.comicbookconventions.com/comicconinternationalnews.php
It provides a quick list of stories we have posted or linked to about the convention.
