The aftermath:

It seems like the scales are tipped in Marvel's favor this month with only a handful of DC titles that looked appealing to me. Of course, a lot of those DC picks aren't even DC books but Wildstorm. I'm not sure what happened with that....it seemed, for a while at least, like DC was heading into a new era. The start of "One Year Later" seemed like it could be the turn of a new leaf for my interest in DC comics. Somewhere along the way I stopped caring about "52" and about most of DC's main titles.

Marvel on the other hand did something very innovative if not entirely dishonest. It seems to me that the "Civil War" book (the main title by Millar and McNiven) is a broad strokes, cliff-notes version of the whole "Civil War" story. The story is told in basic form in the main title and then the smaller, character moments are being built upon in the individual titles. This might not be the best way to write a mini-series but it IS working to keep me intrested in not just the main crossover book but all the tie-in's as well.
