Dark Horse Shipping for May16

The last few weeks have been an oasis in the desert of irregular shipping for the Star Wars titles. This Wednesday, you can sip some water under a palm tree while reading the new arc on Rebellion, which finished up its last arc when it was still 2006.

Rebellion #6

Rob Williams and Michel Lacombe start the new arc "The Ahakista Gambit" with this issue. While the first Rebellion story focused on Luke, this one will go in a different direction and concerns the intersection between the Rebellion and the seedy underbelly of the galaxy. Wyl Tarson, a trusted crime lieutenant, doubles as a Rebel spy--but now his ruthless employer has found his secret. I generally enjoy Star Wars stories involving fringe players and gangsters. Writers have more freedom for characterization with non-major characters. We all love reading about Luke and Han, but sometimes the best stories come from unexpected quarters and new characters.

Knights of the Old Republic TPB Vol. 2: Flashpoint

The second KOTOR trade is available today, collecting issues #7-12. This trade continues the story of fugitive Padawan Zayne Carrick and the memorable cast he picked up over the first arc of the series as they try to stay one step ahead of Zayne's Jedi masters, who still want him dead.

Conan #40

I am not reading Conan right now, but Dark Horse PR says that this story is "an oft-requested peek into Conan's years as King of Aquilonia in this direct follow-up to Robert E. Howard's "The Scarlet Citadel."" I do not know what that means, but it sounds good to me. I have never been a big fantasy guy; I could count on one hand how many fantasy books I have read. But this series is generally well-regarded, and I will be picking up some trades in the future to try it out.

Fear Agent Volume 1: Re-Ignition

This trade collects Fear Agent #1-4 by Rick Remender and Tony Moore in the continuing adventures of everyone's favorite drunken alien exterminator, Heath Houston. This is a reprint of the collection originally released by Image. With Fear Agent now being published by Dark Horse--the first issue of that new series is due next month--this is a good way to get exposed to the series is you missed out when it was an Image property.

B.P.R.D.: Garden of Souls #3 of 5

Mike Mignola continues his Hellboy spinoff. I am waiting for the trade on this mini.
