Dark Horse takes it easy this holiday week and does some manga

Another light, Star Wars-free week from Dark Horse. They are publishing several manga anthologies. I have never been a big fan of the genre, but I do plan on checking out one of these titles. Not sure which one though. Any suggestions? From reading the descriptions, Gunsmith Cats sounds hilarious.

DH has put up a missive from Star Wars editor Randy Stradley, dated July 2, in which he states essentially that there will be no Star Wars comics news during the convention season this summer and the plan is to "stay the course" with the titles. That's fine with me since I'm very happy with the present quality. He does tease some news for 2008 but says it's too early to be revealed. Of course.

DH is also running a new Star Wars contest. All you have to do is fill out the form here to enter. 3 grand prize winners will get a huge amount of the Gentle Giant collectibles known as Bust Ups. Second prize is volume 2 of Panel to Panel.

City of Others #3

The horror miniseries from Bernie Wrightson and Steve Niles continues.

Who Wants to be a Superhero?

This is a one-shot featuring the origin of the character Feedback, who won the Who Wants to be a Superhero reality show on the Sci-Fi network. I did not watch the show, but it was popular enough to merit a second season. Stan Lee himself gets writing credit on this with art by Will Conrad.

And the manga:

The Gunsmith Cats Burst Vol. 2

Hellsing Volume 8

Usagi Yojimbo Volume 21: The Mother of Mountains TPB
