Comic Fodder

Who Do You Want to be a Black Lantern?

I want Abin Sur to be a Black Lantern. I really wanted Batman to be a Black Lantern, but that idea has already been shot. Talk about shaking things up. I made a comment in the comic store that Steve Rogers should be a Black Lantern, which was met with significant agreement by the crowd of regulars. For all we know the Black Lantern Corps may be the idea that makes this story jump the shark, but I think it is rife with possibilities. Think of it: any dead DC character can come back as a Black Lantern.

Who is eligible? What about Ralph and Sue Dibny? If they are not legitimate candidates, perhaps they might still get involved. If not Bruce Wayne, what about his parents? There has already been some leakage into a couple of names, so I won't cover the ones that are known to be members, but there's a laundry list of potential to create massive drama in the DCU. The recently-deceased Dr. Light might be a good example, but I suspect they have other plans for his reappearance already.

Here’s a list in no particular order of people who might be eligible to… answer the call?

Air Wave
Big Barda
Jonah Hex
Katma Tui
Maxwell Lord
Mongul
The original Question
Shazam
The original Vigilante, Adrian Chase
Alexander Luthor
The original Black Canary
Blue Beetle?
Captain Boomerang
Ch’p
Doomsday
The original Dove
Laira
The original Mister Terrific

Anyone else that someone is dying (pardon the pun) to see come back and wreak havoc on the DCU?

Tpull is Travis Pullen. He started reading comics at 5 years old, and he can't seem to stop.

I sort of suspect we'll see Terra.

Aside from that, I've so lost track of who is alive and dead in the DCU (aside from Ted Kord) I'm just hoping for the whole "oh, what a pleasant surprise" thing.

But how about Proty I?

I'm pulling for FDR, zipping through space with a cigarette clenched in his teeth and a grin on his face.

It's 7.15AM here and the suggestion to use the original Black Canary is easily going to be the cleverest idea I see or hear all day. Hell, all month probably. I would love to see that done.

Anyone as long as their return is considered would be cool with me though, getting Darkseid straight back would be pointless for example.

If not Bruce Wayne's parents, what about Superman's parents -- by which I mean, what about Kal-El's parents?

That's what I'm hoping for; for some reason, I don't want to see poor Pa Kent come back, but Zor-el or someone else from Kal-el's past could be good.

I hope GJ puts some logic around those that are returning in order to limit appearances. Maybe make it people who were killed or died an unnatural death or something. Otherwise the concept could very well jump the shark.

That said - I'd like to see a Sun Eater.

I understand that Superman of Earth-2 and the Martian Manhunter will be Black Lanterns.
