That's right, penguins...again. As you know, they are everywhere. They have been an unstoppable force all year, so it's only fitting the vastly popular documentary about them comes out on DVD to shame us just days after we have all gorged ourselves on their more tasty cousins (not that I know if penguins are tasty), the turkey. Of course Morgan Freeman narrates it, as law now requires his commanding, yet mellifluous, vocals on all voice-overs. According to IMDB, the original French version featured dialog for the penguins, and pop music. Penguin Dialogue and French pop music? I have a feeling that version wouldn't have been such a huge hit, here in the USA.
Here are all the details of the DVD:
I wish they had included the foreign release on the DVD, as now I am curious as to just what they had the penguins saying.
Hopefully this marks the end of the penguins' reign as animal of the year. Not that I have anything against them, I'm just sick of hearing about them. I hope we have a better animal for the coming year, something less overly cutesy and obvious. Something like the Monkfish or the Turkey Vulture. No? Too ugly? Imagine Morgan Freeman saying "Turkey Vulture" or "Monkfish". Suddenly doesn't sound so bad, does it? Ah, the power of Morgan Freeman!

Sorry, Matt Callahan, but even with Morgan Freeman the monkfish would still sound bad.
