On August 21st, Paramount announced that it would release 8 additional movies in Sony's Blu-ray format, joining Warner Home Video as one of only two studios to support both next-gen DVD formats. If not for the already-announced Mission: Impossible III, this would mark Paramount's first foray into the Blu-ray market.
The first wave of announced titles, to be released September 26th:
* Lara Croft: Tomb Raider
* Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow
* Four Brothers
* Tim Burton's Sleepy Hollow
The second wave will be released on October 10th:
* Sahara
* U2: Rattle & Hum
* Aeon Flux
* The Italian Job
Mission: Impossible III was already slated for release on October 30th.
We're ecstatic to see a few companies bail out consumers and release movies in both formats. Now if we can just get more manufacturers to produce dual-format players, this war may just go away.
All of the Paramount titles will retail for $29.99.

Wistfully, the solvent is regularly something that is so user-friendly it would simply take a brief moment of time to secure into position, but is regularly forgotten.

In comparison to HD DVD, which also uses a blue laser, Blu-ray has more information capacity per layer (25 gigabytes instead of 15), though the ability to effectively manufacture dual-layer Blu-ray pre-recorded media is still in dispute.
