Fresh Fodder: New DVD Releases - 10/17/2006
If
you're looking for some Halloween fare, this week's releases have
treats in store for you. First there is "The Omen" remake, the preview
of which scared the bejesus out of us this past summer. Next there's
"Feast," which is a Project
Greenlight movie produced by Wes Craven, Ben Affleck, and
Matt Damon, to name a few, which looks to be a fun little romp through
monster-ville. And if those don't whet your appetite, there are enough
horror re-releases this week to cure your blood-letting woes.
If you're the jittery type, there are some mainstream releases this
week as well - even an animated film (which looks really funny by the
way).
As always, leave
us your review for any of these flicks in the comments.
The
Stuff We Care
About
OVER
THE HEDGE
Amazon synopsis: "Traveling
raccoon con artist, RJ (Willis), arrives in a woods outside a
human city in the Midwest, excited about the wonders that living near
humans can bring hungry animals. What he finds, however, is an
Amish-like community that is deathly afraid of humans, after their
leader, Vern the tortoise (Shandling), has an encounter with human boys
that terrifies him. Encouraged by RJ, however, the animals slowly
venture over the hedge that separates them from the brand new suburban
development that appeared over the winter while they were sleeping, and
what RJ shows them is a whole new world where humans leave tin cans
full of fish and other food in big canisters, ripe for the taking. As
they get closer and closer to humans, however, their comfortable lives
in the woods appears to be threatened..."

Some DVD News to Tide You Over
I just rented both "Feast" and the new "Omen." "Feast" was rather boring. Lots of blood and goopy bits, but that's about it. "The Omen" was decent (love Liev) but it wasn't as creepy as the original.
I LOVE the new Netflix, Amazon, Wikipedia and IMDb links on your entries, by the way!!
