If
last week's sales of "The Little Mermaid: Platinum Edition" are any
indication (over 4 million units!), then Disney's recent announcement
of releasing "Peter Pan" in a 2-disc Platinum Edition could certainly
be the "well duh!" move of the year. Apparently the Mousketeers are in
competition with Peter Jackson to make the most editions of one movie
available.
Let's recount the "Peter Pan"
DVDs shall we?
"Peter
Pan: Limited Issue"
This
version was released on November 23rd, 1999, and was only available for
60 days after the street date before being placed on moratorium on
January 19, 2000. This edition lacked any special features.
"Peter Pan: Special Edition"
This version was
released on February 12th, 2002, and then discontinued on January 31st,
2003, as a member of Disney's vault collection. The film was digitally
remastered and restored, and contained the following special features:

So,
if you haven't had enough of the flying boy in green, you better get
your pre-ordering fingers ready, for we're sure these things will be
selling like hot-cakes come next March.
