"Newhart" Coming to DVD

If the writers' strike goes into early next year, you'll be chomping at the bit to see something fresh. Even if you caught it the first time around, we're happy to hear that Fox is finally putting "Newhart" out on DVD.

The 3-disc set includes all 22 episodes, as well as bonus features. The MSRP is $39.98. Bonus featurettes include:
• "Guess Who's Coming To The (Bed And) Breakfast?" – Stratford's Inn-spiration
• "You Really Should Wear More Sweaters" – Revisiting The Style of Newhart
• "Say Goodnight Emily" – Getting to the Heart of Newhart
• TV Land Bob Newhart Celebration

The show takes place at the fictional Stratford Inn, where veteran funnyman and show namesake Bob Newhart runs the establishment with wife Joanna (Mary Frann). The sitcom also starred Tom Poston, Peter Scolari, Julia Duffy and William Sanderson.

Nominated for 25 Emmys in its eight-year run, "Newhart" first premiered on CBS in 1982. There's no word on when the remaining seasons will be available.

"Newhart: The Complete First Season" comes to DVD on February 26, 2008. -- Rachel Cericola
