The latest newsletter from Gauntlet Press reveals their plans to publish in one volume a selection of previously unpublished work by Ray Bradbury. But much about the project is still cloaked in shadow. When can Bradbury's legion of readers get its paws on this mysterious volume? Sometime after Labor Day. What will it contain? Mostly unpublished short fiction and some stories that were published once or twice more than 50 years ago. Though the release date obviously looms, secrecy abounds.
The most flirtatious tidbit of all is that the book (no title yet, I'm afraid) has as its showpiece a work that currently goes for hundreds of dollars in magazine form. Those who have yearned to own the story (whatever it turns out to be, it's safe to assume fans have been yearning to own it) will breathe a sigh of relief at Gauntlet's promise to keep their price within reason. However, those hard-core devotees who have already sold their appendages to own the story will be seen slapping their stumps to their heads and weeping at their rashness.--Pete Mesling
