"Slither" Promises to Scare us to Death

There's really only one thing I need to know about James Gunn's latest movie "Slither." Michael Rooker plays a character named Grant Grant, who, according to the official Web site, "begins to act strangely." Good enough for me. I like it when Michael Rooker acts strangely. Big fun generally ensues, so count me in.

The trailer, which can be found at HorrorExpress.com, takes a bit of a crap on some of the classic horror films of the last 25 years or so, going so far as to claim that such favorites as "Halloween" and "A Nightmare on Elm Street" were for pussies. But considering that we're dealing with the same evil genius who brought us "Tromeo and Juliet" back in 1996, I think it's fair to assume that Gunn and company are being tongue-in-cheek. Let's hope their film isn't.

To gauge by the buckets of fluid that pour throughout the trailer, I don't think we have anything to worry about. We'll find out in January of 2006.--Pete Mesling
