Zombie Christ Still Among the Living

Maybe the news isn't that there's a movie out there called "Zombie Christ." It was only a matter of time, after all, before someone saw the dark potential in Jesus' rising from the dead. Also, the last update to the filmmakers' Web site was apparently May 22, 2003, so it's not exactly a new release. The news is that the site is still up at all, and on it you can actually order copies of the sacrilegious film--something you might want to consider if you're unable to attend the monthly screenings at the White House.

Still, all the fanfare that has surrounded this $200 epic begs the question, Was this the smartest career move an Oregon film crew of 15 could have dreamt up for itself? Part of me wonders if it's like tattooing Bon Jovi on your forearm: one day you're bound to regret it. Anyway, if the trailer is any indication, there's every reason to believe that the sequel ("Jesus Christ, Vampire"?) will be an improvement over the original.--Pete Mesling

How did a movie titled "Zombie Christ" not make $500 million at the box office?
