Burton to Show Off His "Corpse Bride"

To watch the trailer for Tim Burton's latest animated horror film send-up, "Corpse Bride", it would be easy to think that it amounts to a computer-animated version of "The Nightmare Before Christmas." But according to the IMDb, the film was done with puppets and stop-motion animation, just like "Nightmare"--albeit with more advanced equipment.

Though the look and feel of both films seem to be quite similar, my guess is that the craft of "Corpse Bride" alone will be worth the price of admission, even if it's not wildly different in theme from its predecessor. Stop-motion animation is a painstaking process, and the loving diligence required to pull it off is usually evident in every frame.

Will "Corpse Bride" be as interesting as "Nightmare"? With both Christopher Lee and Paul Whitehouse having lent their distinctive voices to the project, hope springs eternal. Either way, we don't have long to wait. Sepember 23 is the nationwide release date.--Pete Mesling
