I believe it was Spinal Tap's David St. Hubbins who once cautioned that it's a fine line between clever and stupid. Well, Yahoo! News reports that the line is about to be crossed with a vengeance. According to the AP article running on their site, it was announced at the recent ScreamFest Horror Film Festival in Los Angeles not only that there will be a "Friday the 13th" film in which Jason Vorhees takes on Freddy Krueger and Michael Myers, but that plans are underway to remake the entire blood-soaked "Friday" franchise. The festival marked Jason's 25th birthday, which is roughly equivalent to the number of years he has shaved from my life.
Somewhat ironically, the juicy news about future Jason films was announced by Peter M. Bracke, author of the forthcoming book "Crystal Lake Memories: The Complete History of Friday the 13th." Perhaps he'll get the chance to write another complete history in 25 years.
As for the remakes, my only hope is that they earn an R rating. I don't care if it's for sex, violence, swearing or all of the above. Just bring them in with an R.--Pete Mesling
Jason is 25? Now I officially feel old.
I was wondering how long it would take them to think about remaking this movie, but the whole series? I guess it sort of makes sense. They seem to have run out of storylines for the sequels.
