Here's a tough one to predict. Mary Lambert, whose "Pet Sematary" was good and whose "Pet Sematary II" was not, is cited by Filmfanzine as director of the upcoming "The Attic." Will it be good (like "Pet Sematary") or will it suck (like "Pet Sematary II")? And is the hope of answering that question a good enough reason to look forward to the damn thing?
The plot is rumored to revolve hopelessly around Emma (Elisabeth Moss) as she stumbles around the attic of her family's new house, pursued by her twin, her imagination, or something else. Filmfanzine even hints that "evil wicca rituals" may be involved.
Maybe wicca as the devil's business is an easy sell in West Memphis, Arkansas, but the rest of the world has moved on and finds it to be a pretty harmless limb of the metaphysical tree. Perhaps Ms. Lambert is about to change our minds. Or perhaps she has another "Pet Sematary II" on her hands.--Pete Mesling
