Actor Vincent Schiavelli Succumbs at Age 57

News of actor Vincent Schiavelli's death comes to us from Really Scary. Shiavelli was an actor whose name may not be recognizable to most, but a quick glance at his IMDb portrait will likely have you nodding your head because you've seen him in something--and remembered him.

The body of work he leaves behind is impressive, to say the least, so he's sure to be remembered for many different roles. Some will recall his contributions to "One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest" and "Ghost." Others will reflect on his work in "Mr. Frost," "Lurking Fear" and, more recently, "Death to Smoochy." For me he was Vinovich, the huckster magician in "Lord of Illusions." It's a great example of a small role that could easily have been forgotten if phoned in or played by a lesser actor.

According to Really Scary, Schiavelli died at his home in Sicily following a bout with lung cancer.--Pete Mesling
