This one doesn't exactly require a lot of commentary, but Oh My Gore!!! reports that the Canadian television show "Dare To Be Stupid" (to begin airing in January 2006 on a channel you almost certainly don't get) has produced a sketch called "Freddy vs. Jesus." If the title alone gets a smirk out of you, be sure to click here for some snazzy stills from the program, as well as a menu for digging up more "Stupid" trivia than you can wave a crucifix at.
I'm not sure how much the show's producer(s) was/were able to milk the idea for, but you have to hand it to the Canadian production for taking a friendly stab at a sacred cow. I think there's actually some feature-film potential in the premise, but maybe that's one of many reasons why I'm not a movie producer.
Production value may not be the show's emphasis, but it's clear that the masterminds behind it have otherwise perfected the art of high-concept entertainment. Not convinced? Then just you wait for such forthcoming characters as Gothula, The Purple Weirdo and The Evil Pudding! God bless the Provinces.--Pete Mesling
