"Hellboy" Director to Don "Halo"?

Why not? He did a bang-up job bringing "Hellboy" to the screen. He seems an outstanding choice for directing the highly anticipated film version of the popular "Halo" video games. Besides, it would postpone the "Hellboy" sequel he's been working on, which wouldn't hurt my feelings any.

But what am I blathering on about, you ask? The Movie Reporter is reporting that Guillermo del Toro is in negotiations with executive producer Peter Jackson for the directorial duties on "Halo." We can hope the fact that he's already turned in a script draft for a "Hellboy" sequel won't complicate his decision. It would be much more fun to see him take on something new, like "Halo," than try to fix what ain't broke with "Hellboy."

Ultimately, it would be nice to see del Toro return to the pensive ambience of "The Devil's Backbone," but since neither "Hellboy 2" nor "Halo" are likely to take him in that direction, I'm crossing my fingers for "Halo." Del Toro is bound to direct "Hellboy 2" eventually anyway, so why should he pass up the opportunity to stick it to the aliens of the Covenant?--Pete Mesling

I totally agree! He did a great job with "The Devil's Backbone." I'd love to see him do something other than "Hellboy."
