Shop Till You Bleed

Since there's still plenty of time to add a couple of stocking stuffer ideas to your holiday wish list, I thought I'd take a moment to help you come up with some truly winning gift ideas for yourself. Or, if you know someone else who likes creepy things a lot, consider the following for them:

The two-disc set of David Cronenberg's "The Fly" is out. Why don't you have it?

Peter M. Bracke has written a history of the "Friday the 13th" films called "Crystal Lake Memories." Highly recommended for anyone who gets too much sleep.

Have you read Dean Koontz's "Frankenstein" books yet? What are you waiting for, a holiday that isn't predicated on wanton consumerism? Buy them.

Rumor has it that Peter Straub recently edited a snappy collection of H. P. Lovecraft's fiction. What better way to show someone that you fear for their immortal soul?

And If you're truly feeling stout of heart, there's always Clive Barker's mammoth book of art, "Visions of Heaven and Hell." Guaranteed to put you in the holiday spirit.

I hope that gives you a starting point, anyway. There's so much to choose from in the field of fright.--Pete Mesling
