Tony Kaye Brushes Off the "Reaper"

No one is likely to be too surprised to hear that hotspur Tony Kaye ("American History X") will not be directing the horror film "Reaper" after all. Dark Horizons reports that although Kaye was tapped to direct the picture in the summer and was still thought attached to it earlier this month, he is no longer involved.

Too bad. The story of an ex-P.I. with cancer, who makes a deal with Death so he can stick around long enough to track down his kidnapped daughter, might have been good grist for Kaye's mill. A little pulpy, a little melodramatic--it would have been fun to see what he'd have done with it.

And in case you're holding out hope that Tony Kaye might somehow become reconnected to "Reaper," you should probably revisit kamera.co.uk's seven-year-old interview with the maverick director by clicking here. Memory refreshed? Good.--Pete Mesling
