Twin Peaks on the Horizon for David Lynch?

A new "Twin Peaks" movie, anyone? Filmfanzine cautions that the early rumblings of just such an effort are underway. Mark Frost, co-creator of the series that spawned the 1992 spin-off film "Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me," has apparently spoken with MTV about the possiblity of revisiting the strange, off-kilter community.

Not surprisingly, David Lynch's involvement is seen as the key to whether or not another "Twin Peaks" film will be made. U.K. production company Phoenixmedia was at one time interested in making a sequel to "Fire Walk with Me" that was to be titled "With a Thousand Angels." That project appears to have collapsed.

If all else fails, we have Lynch's "Inland Empire" to look forward to in 2006. It stars Lynch regulars Laura Dern and Harry Dean Stanton, while also bringing Jeremy Irons into the fold. Oh, and the IMDb's "plot outline" for it may be one of my all-time favorites: "Set in the inland valley outside of Los Angeles, David Lynch's new film is a mystery about a woman in trouble." If it were describing anything other than a David Lynch film, I'd be concerned by the brevity.--Pete Mesling
