"Wolf Creek": Misogynistic Pap or Good Clean Fun?

I haven't seen "Wolf Creek" yet, but two things make me want to quite badly. Number one is Roger Ebert. That's right, the film critic with absolutely no discernible standard for his often bizarre opinions has given the ubiquitous Australian horror film zero stars. His review can be found here, but there's not a lot of substance to it. I just love the fact that he refused to give it so much as one measly star.

So, that alone almost makes "Wolf Creek" a must-see, but what pushes it over the edge for me is the interview with director Greg McLean that can be found at Really Scary. Not only are there some juicy details about the film itself, but McLean comes off as a filmmaker with a legitimate attachment to the genre and a long future in the biz.

I don't want to get my hopes up too high, but if nothing else about this film is right, it sounds as if there's a good chance that John Jarratt is worth a gander as the brutal killer, Mick Taylor. (I mean, we've all heard of method acting, but forgoing a shower for six or seven weeks??? Now that's commitment!)--Pete Mesling
