"Jesus Christ Conquers the Martians"

If it's possible to go wrong with a picture titled "Jesus Christ Conquers the Martians" (especially when it has a poster that warns, "The Martians are getting cross!"), I don't know what it would take. Fangoria has some good scoop on director Mark Pirro's latest effort to confront the sensibilities of his audience head on. This is, after all, the same brain that has offered up such jewels as "Curse of the Queerwolf," "Nudist Colony of the Dead" and "Rectuma."

According to copy from the official Web site, we can expect quite a ride. The gist is that the youth of Mars are getting depressed from spying on Earth and seeing that we have this fellow named Jesus who serves as a spiritual guide. So of course the little green men decide to visit Earth in the year 33 and kidnap the Christ, who ends up being the Martian savior but eventually mucks things up on Mars in much the same way that he's mucked things up down here. Will Jesus be sent back to Earth, or will he be destroyed? To quote from the film's Web site, "Don’t ask us…we’re still writing it."--Pete Mesling
