According to Variety, director Zack Snyder is set to muster another sort of army.
While his current film, "300," continues its domination over the world box office, Snyder and Warner Brothers are set to join forces for the zombie action-thriller "Army of the Dead," based on an original story by Snyder.
Snyder is no stranger to zombie films. He directed the 2004 remake of "Dawn of the Dead."
There's no report on whether Snyder will direct "Army," but he will be producing with wife Deborah Snyder through their recently launched shingle, Cruel & Unusual Films, based at Warner Bros.
Set in a quarantined Las Vegas in the not-too-distant future, "Army" revolves around a father who tries to save his daughter from imminent death in a zombie-infested world.
Sounds rather basic, no? Well, Snyder looks to create a different kind of zombie film by giving it a "sweeping, epic quality, along the lines of the highly stylized '300.'"
"I feel like there hasn't been a zombie movie on the scale that we want to do it," Snyder told Variety.
A zombie movie on the scale of "300"? Now that I'd have to see. I'm picturing something along the lines of the ghost army in "Lord of the Rings: Return of the King" (sometimes also known as the Army of the Dead). This army would move a lot slower, though, because they'd be distracted by all the tasty brains. Naturally.
