"April Fool's Day" Remake No Joke

According to Bloody-Disgusting.com, the 1986 horror flick "April Fool's Day" is set for a remake helmed by The Butcher Brothers ("The Hamiltons"). No. Seriously.

I know I'm not alone in my love of this film. Sure, the ending wasn't my favorite, but at least it was different.

The Butcher Brothers will also be writing the screenplay for the remake with either Columbia Tristar or Paramount Pictures distributing.

The original film starred Deborah Foreman ("Real Genius," "Waxwork"), Amy Steel ("Friday the 13th, Part 2"), Ken Olandt ("Leprechaun") and Griffin (son of Ryan) O'Neal ("The Wraith," "Ghoulies III: Ghoulies Go to College").

The story was set in a remote island mansion where heiress Muffy St. John (Foreman) has invited a group of her college friends to celebrate their final year at school. They soon discover that their pasts have come back to haunt them, and soon, one by one they turn up dead. The guests must find out what is really going on and what secrets Muffy has to hide before they become the killer's next victims in what appears to be no laughing matter.

Of the remakes that keep popping up, I think this one lends itself to a lot of possibilities - especially the ending. Depending on who they get to star, I may even pay money to see it in a theater.

No word on a production schedule or possible release date. -- Shannon Nolley
