Sheryl Crow and Lance Armstrong Break-up
Sheryl Crow and fiancé Lance Armstrong have split up. The twosome had been engaged since September of 2005. The seven-time Tour De France champion, who famously overcame testicular cancer, has three children from a previous marriage, while Crow was set to wed for the first time.
Their joint statement reads, "After much thought and consideration we have made a very tough decision to split up. We both have a deep love and respect for each other and we ask that everyone respect our privacy during this very difficult time."
Yeah right. Here's the inside scoop. Ted Casablanca called this one first. Weeks ago he reported that Sheryl and Lance split up just before New Year's Eve. At the time Sheryl jetted off alone to the Caribbean but denied they were broken up and claimed she was still working out wedding details. She even did a photo shoot modelling wedding dresses in January!
Despite the denials, and some hastily planned red carpet shows of "togetherness", internet buzz continued apace, with rumours suggesting that Sheryl and Lance had been fighting for months. One especially intriguing report was that Lance's mother is a big fan of Sheryl's, and had gotten involved as a mediator, pressuring her son to get it together and walk Sheryl down the aisle.
As the couple officially splits, rumours are flying that despite Sheryl's tremendous support - she took a year off to follow him around the world on his cycling tour - Lance became "emotionally unavailable" to her when she needed him. My source says, "They fought, a lot - especially near the end. Sheryl is devastated, she believed with every fibre of her being that this was it for her. Lance has really let her down."
