As the clock ticks down on Angelina Jolie finally bringing forth Brad Pitt's expected-to-be-perfect-looking protégé, the price for the first picture of the tot, whose arrival has been wryly heralded as the most anticipated since that kid in the manger, continues to climb higher.
The London Mirror reports the Jolie-Pitts, who remain holed up in the battened-down Burning Shores resort in Namibia, where they nested in early April, have finalized a benevolent pact with a U.S. weekly magazine -- the smart money is on People -- for the premiere image of their genetically blessed bundle of joy.
"They've signed a [$5 million] deal with a publication and the money will go to children's charity UNICEF," a "source close to the couple" tells the tab. "Angelina's very private but they figured they might as well use the opportunity of one child being born to help a lot of others."
That jaw-dropping number is $1.5 million higher than the price predicted by South Africa's Sunday Times last month, when it reported that the image-savvy Jolie had indeed handed over the coveted exclusive to People, her preferred news purveyor, in exchange for a UNICEF donation.
Earlier this year, the magazine reportedly shelled out around $500,000 to Wyclef Jean's Yele Haiti charity to secure the first snaps of Angelina showing off her swelling belly. A similar arrangement was likely made for recent shots of the A-list amours frolicking in the Namibian desert with kids Maddox, 4, and Zahara, 16 months.
