THINKFilm Tries Something Different for Premiere

"Nothing about the way 'AWESOME…' was made was conventional, so we are trying to be as imaginative in our release strategy as Adam was in making the film," says THINKFilm's Mark Urman about the unique premiere.

On Thursday, March 23rd, Big Screen Concerts and THINKFilm plan to premiere the film on 200 screens across the country, coupling it with a one-night-only chance to see A Day in the Life of Nathanial Hörnblowér, a thirty-minute short taking its name from bandmember Adam Yauch's psuedonym, who happens to have directed "AWESOME..." The film will only be shown at this event, "self-destructing" afterwards (which is apparently the slang kids are using these days for "available on the internet as soon as I get home .").

A list of theaters showing the premiere can be found here, and you can buy tickets either at the theater or online at Big Screen Concerts. At $10 a pop, plus a service fee if you buy online, it's not the kind of premiere I'm used to (you know, the ones that are free), and frankly the idea behind Hornblower, a short about a movie, is a little too meta for me.

But if you're a fan of the band, it might be the best way you've spent a Thursday night since Friends got canceled.
