Anthony Hopkins' 'Slipstream' Adds to Cast
Sir Anthony Hopkins can do just about anything he wants, and why shouldn't he? The man's already left an indelible mark on film and culture. At this point in his career, he might as well have a little fun.
Helming Slipstream is how he's decided to spend his time these days. The film sounds very Eternal Sunshine-esque, described by Reuters as a "complex, surreal and dreamy tale of one man's journey." Hopkins wrote the screenplay, about a wanna-be screenwriter who, just before realizing his destiny, is confronted with the fact that life is random and fate and fortune don't exist. The ensuing vortex of warped time and place is the 'slilpstream' of the title.
What's most impressive about the film, aside from the whole Hopkins element, is the cast he's assembled to bring his script to screen. Already on board were Christian Slater, Stella Arroyave, Lisa Pepper, Kevin McCarthy, Gavin Grazer, Aaron Tucker and Lana Antonova. Just announced as added to the production that started Monday were John Turturro, Camryn Manheim, Jeffrey Tambor, S. Epatha Merkerson, Fionnula Flanagan, Christopher Lawford and Michael Clark Duncan. While none are as seasoned as Sir Hopkins, all have already made a name for themselves in various roles.
At the very least, it's an eclectic gang. No one person is a bigger name than the others, and the diversity is apparent. It should be interesting to see the script Hopkins' crafted that brings such a motley crew together.

Eternal Sunshine...? I don't see it, but I do see it slightly as Adaptation meets Waking Life meets One Crazy Summer...if that's the case I'm really curious to see it for its "wha tthe fuck" factor...but that probably isn't the case, I'm just dreaming.
