If I'd had things my way, I would have been born Steven Spielberg's or Ron Howard's child, so that my transition into the film industry was not only effortless but expected. Sadly, such a perfect fate isn't meant for us all.
Instead, it's up to people like Alison Eastwood (pictured) to carry on the family business, as it were. Yes, Eastwood as in that Eastwood. Daughter of Clint. She's been in films in the past, including 1997's Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. Now, however, she's shifting gears (much like her dad did) and moving to direct her first feature film.
The movie, Rails and Ties, is from an original screenplay by Micky Levy. Reuters calls it a story that "revolves around two families and their physical, emotional and psychological collision." The film, though not yet listed on Eastwood's IMDb profile, is already a Warner Independent Pictures acquisition. It's being produced by Malpaso Productions, the elder Eastwood's production company. It must be nice to have connections.
GIve it a year or so, and we should be hearing more about this project, specifically where festival runs or theatrical release is concerned.
