Heartland Film Fest Announces Poster Contest

hff.JPG

Smaller than Sundance but packing just as big a punch, Heartland Film Festival has been a staple in Indianapolis for over a decade. Every October, the not-for-profit fest brings filmmakers from around the world to the Circle City for screenings, panels and black-tie events. The organization "recognizes and honors filmmakers whose work explores the human journey by artistically expressing hope and respect for the positive values of life."

(In the spirit of full disclosure, I'm glad to say I recently joined the staff at Heartland. Movie lover working at a film festival? Who could complain?! But I digress...)

This year marks the 15th Festival, and to honor the occasion, Heartland has announced a Poster Contest for aspiring artists. Not just any contest, but one with a $1,500 purse to go along with the win. Other perks include recognition in the Festival guidebook and on the art itself, as well as possible sale of reproductions (proceeds benefiting Heartland). For more information on submitting a poster (deadline is July 14), click here for the .pdf.

Last year, Heartland brought Dakota Fanning to the Opening Event for a special screening of "Dreamer."

The current call for entries is still open for interested filmmakers. Look for updated websites and detailed Festival information in late summer.
