If you've been living anywhere besides under a rock recently, you've heard of Wordplay, the quirky new documentary from firsttime filmmaker (though he's done some TV) Patrick Creadon. In true Indie fashion, he and his producer/wife maxed the credit cards and re-financed their house to make the film.
It's payed off--IndieWIRE calls the film "accomplished and acclaimed." It drew much of that acclaim when it premiered at Sundance in January. The online magazine caught up with Creadon and grabbed a quick interview recently, just in time for the film's theatrical release.
The brevity of his answers (IW: What are some of your recent favorite films? Creadon: Capote, Enron, anything with Will Ferrell.) suggests not that he's annoyed with constant interviews. Rather, I get the feeling he's long from being burned out by the press that comes with promoting a film. He's honest and frank, and frankly, it's refreshing.
Read for yourself what he has to say about other creative outlets and how he defines success.
