The Venice Film Festival starts August 30, which means there's still time to book your tickets. While you're at it, book one for me, too. No? OK, then let me at least get you up to speed on the latest from the city with no streets.
Reuters reports that "Infamous," a biopic about suddenly-chic author Truman Capote, will open the festival. Unlike last year's Capote, which focused only on the writing of 'In Cold Blood,' the film looks at the author's whole life. Directed by Douglas McGrath, the film is based on George Plimpton's 'Truman Capote: In Which Various Friends, Enemies, Acquaintances and Detractors Recall His Turbulent Career.'
Judging by its credits, the "Infamous" premiere will be nothing less than star-studded. The cast includes Isabella Rossellini, Jeff Daniels, Hope Davis, Sandra Bullock (as Harper Lee), Gwenyth Paltrow, Daniel Craig and Sigourney Weaver. The title role is filled by Toby Jones (pictured), recognized by tweens the world over as Dobby the House Elf from the "Harry Potter" series, though the rest of his credits aren't too shabby either.
The film will be released by Warner Independent Pictures in October.
So who knows...will two actors portraying the same man win consecutive Oscars? Stranger things have happened.
