Perhaps most recognizable as the killer in Scream, Matthew Lillard's eeked out a steady presence in films since the turn of the millennium. His goofy mannerisms and effortless humor have served him well in flicks like Scooby-Doo and Without a Paddle. Not masterpieces, but not flops either.
Recently, though, he's chosen roles in smaller films. Currently appearing in Ed Burns's The Groomsmen, Lillard is set to star in another independent, "One of Our Own." The plot revolved around a couple trying for a baby. When they can't get pregnant, they enlist a surrogate. Things get dicey when the surrogate's boss falls in love with her and wants to be a dad himself. Reuters reports that Lillard is set to be the boss.
The cast includes Josh Randall, Claire Rankin and Kate Beahan; slated to direct is Abe Levy, who's main credits are as assistant director. The movie isn't listed on Lillard's IMDb profile just yet, so no word on completion or distribution, either. Maybe it'll pop up at festivals this time next year.
