Long the more intelligent version of Hilary Duff in tenny-bopper romances, Julia Stiles is growing up and stretching her filmmaking muscles.
Cinematical reports (via Variety--subscription required) that Stiles is in the process of creating a short film based on a short story. The Dress That Changed My Life will appear in print in next month's Elle magazine.
The film version, a story about a young woman and older man whose lives change after an encounter on a New York streetcorner, will star Zooey Deschanel and Bill Irwin. Where the dress factors in to the story has yet to be seen, though I hope it's the girl wearing it, not the guy.
The picture is sponsored by Elle and produced by Plum Pictures, the same studio that brought us the charming The Baxter last year. Cinematical expects the film to show up on Elle's website, as no word is out yet where else it'll be available.
