There are no revolutionary themes in "subUrbia"; you can see and hear
the same angst in dozens of other teen movies. But it's got no plot,
and that's what I like about it. It just kind of rambles on from one
situation to the next...rather like my own teenage years did.
The movie documents one night in the life of a group of kids who
regularly hang out in the parking lot of a convenience store,
drinking, smoking, disrespecting their elders and staying out all
night. They occasionally hint at the fact that they'd all like to be
doing something better with their lives, but not too many of them are
inclined to really do anything about that. A brief visit from an old
friend-turned-wanky-popstar brings out the beast in every one of
them there are breakups, overdoses, yelling, shooting, and even a
bit of the full frontal nudity from Giovanni Ribisi. Woohoo!
