Until recently finding solid news on Sam Raimi's upcoming "Spider-Man" movie has been an exercise in teeth-clenching futility. If I read one more unverified blurb about a trendy A-list actor being considered for the Peter Parker/Spidey role I'm going to strap on red spandex and throw myself from the Prudential building. Thankfully, legitimate Spidey news has finally surfaced and I can temporarily quash my suicidal, arachnoid desires. Earlier this week, Coming Attractions, The Fetal Film Report and IGN FilmForce teamed up to deliver a host of pictures and production shots from the Spidey film. The shots, taken from a special promotional video shown at the San Diego Comic Convention, suggest that Raimi is walking the line between classic Spidey and an updated version. One of the tape's most interesting revelations is that Spidey's web shooters will be organic. This idea originally surfaced in James Cameron's treatment, which is shocking because most of Cameron's ideas involve $150-million budgets and piss-poor dialogue. But I digress. In the video, Raimi demonstrates how the already-shy Parker will be forced to wear long-sleeved shirts to hide his spurting growths (scroll to the bottom of the linked page to see the still). Puberty is going to be a rough time for young Mr. Parker but at least his movie is shaping up nicely.
