It's been almost three years since any news surfaced on the long-rumored "A-Team" movie, but today Dark Horizons reports that Top Cow Productions and Fox 2000 have acquired the rights to the film and are aiming for a 2001 release. Back in 1996 it was said that Mel Gibson would step into the late George Peppard's shoes as Colonel Hannibal Smith, but Mel's $25 million paycheck is a little pricey for these studios so there's little chance he'll be involved. Nonetheless, the 2001 release date means this film will be shot in the coming months, so expect to see casting news relatively soon.
