Narc Director Lands Mission: Impossible 3

The third installment of "Mission: Impossible" now lies in the hands of "Narc" writer/director Joe Carnahan, reports Variety. Months ago, "Fight Club" helmer David Fincher was the "M:I-3" frontrunner, but Fincher is now overseeing the skater-pic "The Lords of Dogtown."

"Narc" is proving to be Carnahan's meal ticket. Critical raves and attention from Tom Cruise and his producing partner, Paula Wagner, have landed him both the "M:I-3" gig and "Killing Pablo" -- a novel-to-film adaptation chronicling the life of drug kingpin Pablo Escobar. Both "Pablo" and "M:I-3" are scheduled to film later this year.
