American Psycho Slips Into Batsuit

Actor Christian Bale, best known for his turn as "American Psycho's" homicidal yuppie, has been anointed the new Batman. The Hollywood Reporter says Bale beat out Jake Gyllenhaal, Joshua Jackson and other hotshots for the lead role in director Christopher Nolan's ("Memento," "Insominia") upcoming bat flick, which Warner Bros. hopes rejuvenates the floundering "Batman" franchise.

The new "Batman" will be a prequel of sorts, focusing on the early years of Bruce Wayne's transformation into the Caped Crusasder. Principal photography is slated to begin in February, the Reporter says.
