Big Willie Gets Marked

Variety says Will Smith is teaming with Nickelodeon Movies for the sci-fi action flick "The Mark." The story follows a regular guy (Smith) who gains super powers after an odd mark transfers onto him from a dead Confederate soldier. As is often the case with supernatural affairs, the man's new powers are tempered by some sort of evil hitch.

Nickelodeon plans to spin a "Mark" cartoon out of the film for Spike TV. Variety says this maneuver is part of Nick's expansion beyond green slime and precocious teens. -- Mac Slocum
