Warning: "Spider-Man" gushing to come ...
Part of what made the first "Spider-Man" so enjoyable was that it went way beyond a mere superhero movie. There were actual people under all those funny costumes, and it was those people that made "Spider-Man" both a critical and a box office hit. Granted, the action and computer wizardry didn't hurt, but Raimi clearly understood that to make a film that would stand the test of time he needed more than a cool costume and an ear-shattering soundtrack (Bryan Singer reached the same conclusion with his "X-Men" movies). Based on the "Spider-Man 2" trailer, Raimi is using the same action-character combo with the sequel, and that means "Spider-Man 2" could be a very good time.
And just to make it clear, I do not work for Sony, Sam Raimi, Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, Stan Lee, Marvel Comics or any other entity associated with, or having a stake in, the "Spider-Man" franchise. Nor do I own, or wear, Spider-Man Underoos. Thank you.
