21 Jump Street Reborn as Movie

Break out the hair gel and take that Booker poster out of storage. "21 Jump Street" is coming to the big screen. The Hollywood Reporter says Paramount is rounding up producers for an adaptation of the 1987-1990 cop show and the project is out to screenwriters right this very second.

In case you weren't part of the "Jump Street" craze of the late '80s, the show followed a team of preternaturally young undercover cops who worked the high school beat busting dope fiends and aspiring criminals. "Jump Street" was one of Fox television's first hits, but it's best known as the launching pad for Johnny Depp. In the ensuing years Depp has expressed his displeasure with his "Jump Street" career, so it's exceedingly unlikely he'll have anything to do with this film.

Richard Grieco, however, is standing by. -- Mac Slocum
