"Frank [Spotnitz] and I have worked out a story, and there's a negotiation with [Fox] going on," Carter tells Variety. What that negotiation entails is a mystery, but if there's any justice in this world it includes ample mea culpas from Carter, who let his classic series swirl down the toilet in its final seasons.
"We're all on the same page," Duchovny said in an interview with Teletext. "Gillian Anderson wants to do it, I want to do it, Chris Carter, who would write and produce the film, wants to do it and I believe Fox the studio wants to do it. When you have the four major players in the enterprise wanting to do it, it will happen. It's just a matter of when. I hope it happens within the next year."
Duchovny's comments represent the 2,458th time in the last three months that he's expressed enthusiasm about production beginning "within the next year." Hopefully that enthusiasm will soon translate into a legitimate production schedule and a release date. I'm getting sick of writing the same friggin' story.
