Viggo Mortensen and David Cronenberg Get Violent

The Hollywood Reporter says Viggo Mortensen is circling the lead role in director David Cronenberg's "A History of Violence."

Based on a graphic novel by John Wagner and Vince Locke, the story centers on a restaurant owner/father who becomes a reluctant hero when he slays two killers in self defense. The ensuing exposure brings unwanted attention from seedy characters -- characters connected to the man's violent past (hence the title).

A release date and production schedule haven't been announced. -- Mac Slocum
