Andy Serkis has a new precious. The actor who brought Gollum to life in the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy will be the motion-capture reference point for King Kong in director Peter Jackson's upcoming remake, says The Hollywood Reporter. This means Serkis will spend his days beating his chest with simian abandon while computer wizards track his every move. Serkis' actions will serve as the template for a CGI Kong.
Serkis will also get a rare moment of real screen time as Lumpy the cook, a member of the crew that captures Kong.
"King Kong" is scheduled for release in December 2005. For more "Kong" news check out our spotlight page. -- Mac Slocum
