Mission: Impossible 3 Loses Director

Joe Carnahan won't be getting a Christmas card from Tom Cruise this year. The Hollywood Reporter says Carnahan ("Narc") has ditched the "Mission: Impossible 3" directing gig over "creative differences." Details on what those differences entail are not available, but if Carnahan was aiming for intricate story arcs and well developed characters he was clearly misinformed. Everyone knows "Mission: Impossible" is all about hangin' from ceilings and poppin' wheelies on motorcycles.

A replacement director hasn't been named. Nevertheless, Paramount says filming on "M-I:3" will begin as planned next month in Berlin. The film is scheduled to premiere June 29, 2005.
