Ewan McGregor Books Trip to The Island

The Hollywood Reporter says Ewan McGregor is negotiating to join director Michael Bay's sci-fi flick "The Island."

Plot details are sketchy, but reports say the film has something to do with a "harvested being" (uh, what?) who tries to escape a utopian locale where he's being kept. Hmm ... sounds like a cross between "Escape from New York" and "Six Days, Seven Nights." I was wondering when they'd get around to making that one.

"The Island" is scheduled to begin filming in the fall. -- Mac Slocum
